✨ Meet Clefairy – our little miracle Pokémon

Clefairy is just 4 years old—a young girl who has already endured more health battles than many senior cats face in a lifetime.

She came to us as a tiny kitten, placed quickly in a foster home where she thrived. She was adopted soon after… but heartbreak struck when she fell ill with FIP. Returned to us, she became the first DCL cat to undergo FIP treatment, thanks to her foster mom’s dedication and support from the warrior community.

Clefairy, day 4 in foster home

Day 1 of treatment for FIP and day 84 of treatment for FIP! By week 11 of her recovery—just one week away from being declared cured—Clefairy was struck again. Despite being fully vaccinated, she contracted panleukopenia. She was the only cat in her foster home to get sick, and she survived only through hospitalization, countless prayers, and the generosity of our community. But the stress of panleuk reactivated her FIP, forcing her to endure a second 12-week round of treatment.

And still, her story didn’t stop there. Midway through treatment, Clefairy developed severe respiratory issues. Tests revealed bordetella, chlamydia, and more—weeks of additional medications followed. She pulled through again, but not without a permanent snort and sneezy “superpowers” that make her one-of-a-kind.

Clefairy eventually beat FIP twice. But with her chronic health issues, her foster mom knew adoption wasn’t an option—Clefairy needed someone who understood her history. And so, she officially became part of her foster family forever. 💕

Today, Clefairy is a snorty, snotty little Pokémon who fills her days with love: she eats, plays, purrs, cuddles, and sneezes her blessings on anyone nearby. Over just the past two months, she’s endured 7 tooth extractions, 2 nasal flushes, 1 urgent care trip, and multiple vet visits.

💜 Clefairy is living proof of why our work matters. Not every rescue story ends quickly—some cats need lifelong care, advocacy, and love. This North Texas Giving Day, please consider Clefairy’s story and remember: your gift doesn’t just save lives, it sustains them.

Because cats like Clefairy deserve forever care, forever love, and a forever place in our program.
