In the early 2000s, over 40 community partners came together to address the fact that youth in foster or juvenile care were being released from care unprepared to transition to independent living, and with no safety net.

TRAC, the Transition Resource Action Center, emerged from this process, envisioned as a one-stop-shop resource center designed to meet these young people’s needs.

For its first 21 years, TRAC operated under the umbrella of CitySquare (originally Central Dallas Ministries). In 2023-2024, TRAC became its own independent organization, with its own lay and professional leadership.

TRAC provides about 1,200 young people, annually, with life skills training, crisis intervention, transition planning, housing assistance, workforce support, education assistance, physical and mental health services, and drop-in centers.

TRAC provides transition services to youth aging out of foster care and homeless youth across a 19-county region. These services, provided at TRAC’s Dallas and Fort Worth locations, are designed to help young people successfully transition to becoming productive and flourishing adult members of society.
