When I accepted the opportunity to join the Retina Foundation, I knew I would be supporting an incredible mission. What I didn't realize was how deeply this work would affect me.
Every day, I meet families who are searching for answers after receiving a devastating diagnosis. I see children whose futures are filled with uncertainty and adults who worry about losing the ability to drive, work, read, or simply recognize the faces of the people they love. I also have the privilege of working alongside physicians and researchers who refuse to accept that vision loss is inevitable. Their passion and determination give me hope every single day.
Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to work with nonprofit organizations that make a real difference in people's lives. I've always believed that when a community comes together around a shared purpose, extraordinary things can happen. Today, that purpose is helping preserve and restore sight.
The Retina Foundation is leading groundbreaking research to discover new treatments and cures for blinding retinal diseases. Our work focuses on three critical areas:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
Inherited retinal diseases (IRDs)
Pediatric eye conditions
What makes me especially proud to be part of this organization is that we provide specialized services completely free of charge to qualifying patients. These include:
Comprehensive vision evaluations
Genetic testing and counseling
Access to clinical trials and emerging treatments
Expert care for infants, children, and adults living with vision loss
For many families, these services provide answers after years of uncertainty. For others, they open doors to promising new treatments that simply wouldn't be available otherwise. Because cost should never be the reason someone misses the opportunity to protect their vision.
Research like this doesn't happen without the generosity of people who believe in a better future.
Your support helps fund groundbreaking research, advance treatments for diseases that currently have no cure, provide free patient evaluations and genetic testing, and bring hope to families facing vision loss. Every gift moves us one step closer to discoveries that can preserve and restore sight.
I've seen firsthand the hope this organization provides. I've seen the compassion our team shows every patient who walks through our doors. And I've seen how every donation—large or small—helps make that work possible.
That's why I'm asking for your support.
Please consider making a gift to the Retina Foundation. Together, we can help a child experience the wonder of seeing the world more clearly, help an adult maintain their independence, and accelerate the research that will one day end vision loss for generations to come.
Thank you for believing, as I do, that everyone deserves the gift of sight.
