Jorge's Journey Forward Mentoring Fundraiser

In Dallas, the odds are stacked against too many students.Students from low-income households face a significant gap in access to college and career readiness support. On average, public high school students receive just 38 minutes of college and career advising across all four years of high school. The results are sobering: fewer than 20% of Dallas ISD students graduate truly being 'ready' for college, and fewer than one-third ultimately earn a college degree or technical certificate.

Journey Forward Mentoring is changing this story.We provide one-on-one, personalized support to students of color from low-income households who are historically underrepresented in higher education. Our programs ensure every student has the guidance, resources, and encouragement to pursue higher education and well-paying careers:

• Next Gen Mentoring (High School): Each student is matched with a dedicated adult mentor who helps them navigate high school, explore college and career options, and build a plan for the future.

• Edge (Postsecondary): After high school graduation, students continue receiving support through group coaching, one-on-one advising, community-building events, and a semester stipend to help with living expenses, all designed to ensure they persist through college or credential completion.

I am honored to serve on the board of Journey Forward Mentoring during this exciting time of growth. This North Texas Giving Day, my personal goal is to have 20 individuals join me in giving. Every donation, big or small, directly fuels our programs and makes a lasting difference in the lives of our students.
