For 120 years, the Denton Record-Chronicle has been a trusted source of local news for Denton County — chronicling Denton’s growth, amplifying local voices and providing fact-checked reporting that helps residents make informed decisions about their lives. Now, at 120 years strong, we’re embarking on a new era. With the Record-Chronicle’s transition to nonprofit status and our partnership with KERA, we are building a future for journalism in Denton County that is both sustainable and community-driven.  

Today, as part of the KERA family, we’re entering a new chapter — one that combines our proud legacy with a nonprofit future. Help us protect and grow local journalism in Denton County — for today, and for the next 120 years.

The need has never been greater. Across the country, newspapers are closing at record pace. Research shows that when a local paper disappears, voter turnout drops, civic engagement shrinks, and accountability weakens. Denton cannot afford that fate — and thanks to supporters like you, we don’t have to.

• Partnering with KERA to bring Denton’s stories to a wider audience through radio, podcasts and video

• Sustaining initiatives like Denton U, which provides free access for students, parents and educators at UNT, TWU, NCTC and more

• Investing in the next generation by covering schools, civic life and the stories that shape our community’s future

We remain rooted in our heritage — a family-owned institution for 78 years — while also innovating for the digital age.
