Strengthening Community, Building Solutions

Our Community Building Department is the voice and backbone of For Oak Cliff’s advocacy work. This team connects with other nonprofits and third spaces across Oak Cliff to raise awareness about the challenges our neighbors face, while also creating spaces like community forums and meetings where we can work together on real solutions.

Grounded in our 5 priorities, this department leads the charge by:

1. Tackling chronic absenteeism in our schools

2. Addressing incarceration rates in 75216 through prevention and re-entry support

3. Promoting post-secondary success plans for youth and young adults

4. Supporting early childhood education and development for our youngest learners

5. Creating safe, intentional spaces for our teens to gather on Friday nights, when statistics show they are most at risk of getting into trouble without plans

From volunteering inside juvenile facilities, to keeping our campus doors open late on Fridays, to organizing advocacy efforts that influence systemic change. This department is working every day to combat the root issues holding our community back.

• Keep Teen Late Nights safe and free ($75 sponsors one teen’s experience)

• Expand advocacy initiatives and community forums to amplify Oak Cliff’s voice

• Build partnerships with local leaders and organizations for greater impact
