New update
This year for North Texas Giving Day, I am raising money for a cause that has been important to me for many, many years.
A long time ago, I had the opportunity to learn about the Clubhouse mission and hear stories directly from members about how their Clubhouse had changed their lives. I heard about how it gave them a safe place to go, opportunities to learn new skills, meaningful work, and—perhaps most importantly—a community of peers who understood and supported them.
Their stories stayed with me.
So when I saw an opportunity to apply to work at Cowtown Clubhouse, I took the chance.
Because of the way the Clubhouse model is structured, staff teams are intentionally small, so opportunities to join a Clubhouse don't come around often. I knew this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
In February, I became the Program Director at Cowtown Clubhouse.
Since then, I've had the privilege of watching this community grow and evolve. We've strengthened our work toward Clubhouse International accreditation standards, expanded what we can offer our members, and—most excitingly—moved into a new location that gives us room to grow.
My role isn't just about helping run the day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse. It's also about helping build a strong foundation so Cowtown Clubhouse can remain a place of belonging for years to come.
That means thinking about how we grow, how we serve more members, how we strengthen our programs, and how we make sure this community is here for the people who need it—not just today, but for many years into the future.
Now, I get to see the impact of the Clubhouse mission firsthand.
I see members discovering strengths they didn't know they had. I see people building friendships, learning new skills, taking on responsibilities, pursuing employment, and finding confidence. I see what happens when people have a place where they are welcomed, valued, and genuinely needed.
And I understand even more now why those stories stayed with me all those years ago.
This is why I'm asking you to support Cowtown Clubhouse this North Texas Giving Day.
Your donation isn't just helping keep the lights on. You're helping create opportunities for adults living with serious mental illness to build skills, find purpose, strengthen their independence, and—most importantly—belong.
I am incredibly grateful that the opportunity I took a chance on brought me to Cowtown Clubhouse. I hope you'll take a chance on us, too.
Help me make sure Cowtown Clubhouse continues to be here for our members, our community, and the future.
Every gift makes a difference. 💙
Building Community. Creating Belonging.
Everyone deserves a place where they belong.
A place where people know your name.
Where your strengths are recognized.
Where your contributions matter.
Where someone notices when you aren't there.
For adults living with serious mental illness, finding that kind of community isn't always easy. Mental illness can create barriers to employment, education, relationships, housing, and independence. It can leave people feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around them.
Cowtown Clubhouse is here to change that.
Located in the heart of Fort Worth, Cowtown Clubhouse is a community where adults living with serious mental illness can find friendship, purpose, opportunity, and a place to belong.
At Cowtown Clubhouse, our members aren't defined by a diagnosis. They aren't patients or clients. They are members of a community.
Following the evidence-based Clubhouse International model, members and staff work side by side as colleagues. Together, we run the Clubhouse, support one another, build skills, and discover the strengths and talents each person brings to our community.
Every day at Cowtown is an opportunity to contribute.
Members may help prepare meals, welcome visitors, answer phones, work on administrative projects, maintain our space, participate in community activities, or take on leadership responsibilities. This work-ordered day helps members build confidence, develop skills, establish routines, and rediscover the sense of purpose that comes from knowing your contribution matters.
But Cowtown Clubhouse is about more than the work we do inside our building.
We support members as they pursue employment and education, strengthen their wellness, navigate housing and community resources, and build connections throughout Fort Worth. We create opportunities for members to take meaningful steps toward greater independence while knowing they have a community behind them.
And sometimes, the most important thing we provide isn't a program or a service.
It's belonging.
It's knowing that there is a place where someone is happy to see you.
It's having people who notice your accomplishments and encourage you when things get difficult.
It's being trusted with responsibility.
It's having a reason to get up, get dressed, and show up.
It's knowing that you matter.
Cowtown Clubhouse is growing, and so is our vision for the future. With our dedicated Clubhouse home, we have an incredible opportunity to welcome more members, expand meaningful work and employment opportunities, strengthen wellness programming, and continue building a community where people can thrive.
But we can't do it alone.
This North Texas Giving Day, we're asking our Fort Worth community to invest in belonging.
Your gift helps support the everyday things that make Cowtown Clubhouse possible—from keeping our doors open and providing nutritious meals to creating employment and educational opportunities, supporting wellness activities, connecting members with community resources, and providing a place where people can build relationships and discover their strengths.
When you give to Cowtown Clubhouse, you're not simply donating to an organization.
You're investing in people.
You're helping someone find community after years of isolation.
You're helping someone discover a skill they didn't know they had.
You're helping someone take a step toward employment.
You're helping someone build confidence and independence.
And you're helping create a Fort Worth where adults living with serious mental illness are not pushed to the margins, but welcomed as valued members of our community.
A place to belong.
A place to contribute.
A place to grow.
This North Texas Giving Day, join Cowtown Clubhouse in Building Community and Creating Belonging.
Your gift can help make sure there is always a place at the table.
