Why Giving to Girls Inc. of Tarrant County Matters to Me

My connection to Girls Inc. of Tarrant County started in a way I never expected, it started with my sister being recognized as a BOLD Woman in 2024. That experience introduced me to an organization whose mission immediately resonated with me. Today, I have the privilege of working for Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, leading fundraising and donor engagement, because I believe deeply in what this organization makes possible for girls.

Before joining Girls Inc., I spent 20 years working in aerospace finance. I know firsthand what it feels like to build a career in a nontraditional field, to walk into rooms where you may not always see people who look like you, and to not only earn a seat at the table, but to learn how to keep that seat and use your voice once you get there.

That experience is a big part of why this mission matters so much to me.

Girls deserve to see themselves in STEM. They deserve opportunities to explore high-wage, high-growth careers and to meet the women who are already succeeding in those fields. They deserve experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and give them the drive to pursue excellence, not just in their careers, but in every aspect of their lives.

What I love about Girls Inc. is that we don't simply tell girls what they can become. We create opportunities for them to discover it for themselves. We put them in environments where they can ask questions, try something new, solve problems, lead, fail, try again, and begin to see themselves as capable of more than they may have imagined.

And we do it in the communities where they live.

For me, giving to Girls Inc. is about opening doors that may not otherwise be open. It is about making sure the next girl has access to the experiences, mentors, education, and encouragement she needs to walk confidently into a room and know that she belongs there.

I was fortunate to find my way to a seat at the table. Now, I want to help pull up more chairs.

That is why I give as a Champion for Girls. That is why I work here. And that is why I believe investing in girls is one of the most powerful investments we can make in our future.
