Support Literacy: Empower Young Readers Today

Hello, friends and supporters!

As a proud Readers 2 Leaders board member, I’m excited to launch a personal fundraiser to support our mission of equipping students for success through the power of reading. At Readers 2 Leaders, we’re committed to ensuring that all students have equitable opportunities to thrive as both readers and leaders. With your help, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of the children we serve.

As an extra incentive, I will be matching the first $800 of donations.

Why I’m Fundraising

I'll never forget walking into my kindergarten classroom on the first day and sitting down to read a book. I had been working on my reading that previous summer using Hooked on Phonics; learning to read using evidence-based methods made me a more confident student who read for both learning and pleasure. Reading continues to be a major part of who I am today, and I love sharing books with my daughter. I want all children to have the same opportunities she and I have to learn and love to read, and the doors that open as a result!

Facts & Figures

Readers 2 Leaders aims to achieve the following during the 2025-26 academic year and summer:

• Serve 1,600 students during the school year and summer;

• Serve 400 adults through literacy coaching and training programs;

• 85 percent of students will participate in 80 percent of sessions for 120 minutes of instruction per week; 

• 90 percent of students will make measurable growth in key early literacy skills as measured by an externally validated assessment;

• 89 percent of children will grow or maintain their reading skills during the summer.
