The Arlington Optimist Club proudly offers college scholarships each year to one senior from each high school in the Arlington (Texas) Independent School District (AISD). One graduating student from each high school is selected by their principal or counselor because they embody the Optimist values of persistence, hard work, and determination. These students receive the Youth Appreciation Scholarships offered by the Arlington Optimist Club. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide financial aid for high school graduates who wish to pursue further education by attending a university, college, or trade school. Currently, the Optimist Club gives out a $1,000 scholarship to each senior. The scholarships are awarded for one year at an accredited university, community college, or trade school of the student’s choice, and are non-renewable.

Additionally, the Arlington Optimist Club honors one student from each Arlington ISD junior high. The selected students are also acknowledged, receive an award, and are presented with a certificate or plaque.

The Arlington Optimist Club holds a Youth Appreciation Banquet each year to honor these students and families. The banquet consists of a dinner for attendees, families, school personnel, dignitaries, and club members, as well as a speaker and a celebration of these students' wonderful achievements.
