Light of Hope Immigration Law Center

For nearly 19 years, Light of Hope Immigration Law Center (LOHILC) has been a trusted lifeline for low-income immigrant families in North Texas. Recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), our team is one of the few nonprofits in the region legally authorized to represent immigrants before USCIS, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Immigration Courts.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to advocate, educate, and serve low-income immigrant families so they can secure legal status and thrive in the United States.

In 2024 alone, we helped more than 3,200 individuals with DACA renewals, family visas, humanitarian relief, and citizenship applications. Most importantly, through our free Citizenship Classes, 140 students prepared for the naturalization test — and 99% passed. Citizenship opens the door to better jobs, stability for families, and the ability to fully participate in the community they call home.

But today, the need is greater than ever. We currently have five citizenship classes running—and a waiting list of 50 students who are eager to become U.S. citizens but cannot start because resources are limited.

Your Gift Creates Citizens

Here’s how your donation makes a direct impact:

• $55 provides textbooks and materials for one citizenship student.

• $200 sponsors an entire semester (12 weeks) of classes for one student.

• $3,000 supports a full semester for 15 students — changing lives and entire families.

Every dollar keeps classes free for students who otherwise could not afford them. Without your help, many who are ready to take this critical step will be left waiting.
