For the past several years, I've had the privilege of working at New Friends New Life, where I see firsthand the incredible strength and resilience of women and girls who are rebuilding their lives after trafficking and exploitation. Every day, I am reminded that healing is possible when someone has access to safety, support, and a community that believes in them.
For 28 years, NFNL has provided survivors of trafficking and exploitation with comprehensive support, including case management, trauma-informed counseling, educational opportunities, and economic empowerment services. Together, we're helping women and girls rewrite their stories and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.
As Director of Grants at NFNL, I spend a lot of time collecting data, reporting outcomes, and sharing our impact with funders. This year's theme, "What We See Is Only the Surface," resonates deeply with me because the statistics only tell part of the story. Beneath the numbers are women and girls overcoming unimaginable challenges and working every day toward brighter futures. That's why this mission is so meaningful to me, and why I'm asking for your support on North Texas Giving Day.
Texas ranks second in the nation for the highest number of sex trafficking victims, and Dallas ranks second in the state. Yet behind those statistics are real people with hopes, talents, and futures worth investing in.
In 2025, NFNL served 318 women, youth, and their children. I've seen members earn diplomas, secure stable employment, reunify with their children, and reach goals they once thought were out of reach. Access to counseling, education, career training, childcare, and other critical support services helps our members move from surviving to thriving.
On North Texas Giving Day, I hope you'll join me in supporting this life-changing work. Your gift can help a woman or girl find safety, heal from trauma, and build a future filled with hope.
