Why I Support Ascend Dallas:
Ascend Dallas, formerly known as WiNGS, has been empowering the Dallas community for more than a century. Participants are resourceful and determined, working to create lasting change for themselves, their families, and their communities. Ascend walks alongside them, providing personalized, high-impact support that builds stability pathways for long-term success.
Ascend Dallas recognizes serious gaps in both economic mobility and health services and serves as the bridge to close them. The organization not only delivers resources but also provides the education and skills needed to use them effectively—creating change that transforms lives, strengthens families, and builds thriving communities for generations to come.
The organization focuses on two proven programs—Economic Advancement (EA) and Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP)—that address the undeniable link between health, financial stability, and career opportunity. Ascend does not replicate services already available in the community; instead, they partner with trusted organizations to, ensuring every gifted dollar supports their unique, targeted, and transformative work.
Programs That Are Driving Change:
Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is a nationally recognized, evidence-based community health program delivered by Ascend's own team of Registered Nurses. Ascend Dallas was the first nonprofit in Texas to bring this model to the state, and has been delivering NFP services for the past 19 years. Nurses provide in-home medical, nutritional, and social-emotional support to first-time parents from pregnancy through the child’s second birthday. This hands-on, relationship-based approach ensures both parent and child receive the critical resources, education, and ongoing guidance needed to thrive.
Economic Advancement (EA) Serving more than 1,000 members of underserved communities throughout Dallas, the EA program is led by certified financial and career coaches who work one-on-one with participants to create personalized pathways to long-term stability. EA combines cohort-based learning with individualized coaching in personal finance, career development, and overall financial wellness—equipping participants with the tools and strategies for lasting success.
Through this approach, participants achieve measurable progress in reducing debt, increasing savings, improving credit, and advancing their careers—building a foundation for greater opportunity and independence.
