Be the Reason Someone Keeps Going.

Homelessness affects all of us in Tarrant County. 

At the start of 2026, more than 2,500 of our neighbors were experiencing homelessness. But that number is more than a statistic. It represents real people—mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors—each with their own story, struggles, and hopes.

This work is personal to me. 

Every day, I get to see firsthand the heart our incredible staff puts into this work. Our outreach team continues to find and show up for people wherever they are—on the streets, living in their cars, or tucked away in wooded areas. They’re out there in the Texas heat, building trust and forming relationships with people who may have no one else in their corner.

And showing up is only the beginning. Our team works alongside each person to remove barriers, obtain IDs and other critical documents, connect them to benefits and healthcare, provide transportation and resources, and help them navigate the often complicated path toward housing and stability.

When someone does move into housing, our work doesn’t end at the front door. Our housing case managers make home visits, help navigate challenges, connect clients to resources, celebrate milestones, and provide the ongoing support needed to help them remain stable.

Housing is harder to come by than ever, but that makes the work along the way even more important. Progress doesn’t always happen overnight, and it doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes it’s finally getting an ID. Getting connected to benefits. Making it to an important appointment. Rebuilding trust. Or simply realizing that someone is going to come back tomorrow.

Every one of those steps matters because every step forward is one step closer to something better.

The Need Is Changing. Our Commitment Isn’t.

The reality of homelessness is changing. Housing is harder to find and less affordable, the cost of living continues to rise, and even working full-time doesn’t always mean being able to make ends meet. The distance between stability and crisis can be much smaller than we realize, and homelessness can happen to people from all walks of life.
