$5,000 goal
North Texas Giving Day is almost here, and our goal is to raise $5,000 to directly benefit our students with autism and various disabilities.
The Foundation School of Autism–Plano is a free, public charter school dedicated exclusively to children on the autism spectrum and with various developmental disabilities. We provide individualized instruction, small class sizes, and highly trained staff so every student can develop academic, social, and life skills in a safe, nurturing, and sensory-friendly environment. Our mission is to help students build confidence, communication, and independence—preparing them for bright futures in school and beyond.
This year, we are dreaming big: we want to host a magical, sensory-friendly Fall Festival designed just for our students and their families. Picture a gentle bounce house, a slow-moving trackless train ride, a friendly petting zoo, and calming activity stations—all scaled for sensory comfort and joyful inclusion.
Why This Matters
Typical community fall festivals can be overwhelming for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. Bright lights, loud music, and large crowds often lead to sensory overload, making it hard for them to participate. Our festival will bring all the fun without the stress, so every child can safely experience the seasonal traditions other families enjoy.
Your donation—big or small—brings this dream closer to reality. Every dollar helps create a smaller, calmer, but equally magical celebration where our students can laugh, explore, and make lifelong memories.
Beyond the Festival: Year-Round Impact
In addition to the Fall Festival, your gift supports daily programming that is absolutely essential for children on the autism spectrum and with various disabilities:
Sensory supports such as weighted blankets, noise-reducing headphones, and fidget tools to help students regulate emotions and stay engaged in learning.
Instructional materials like adaptive curriculum kits, communication devices, and visual supports that make academics accessible.
Social-emotional resources that foster friendships, communication, and confidence.
Unfortunately, special education funding in Texas has faced repeated cuts and flat budgets, and charter schools like ours receive over $1,000 less per student than traditional districts. These gaps leave our most vulnerable learners at risk of losing the supports they depend on. Your generosity directly closes that gap and strengthens our ability to meet each child’s unique needs.
How You Can Help
Every gift—from $10 to $1,000—moves us toward our $5,000 goal and ensures:
A sensory-friendly Fall Festival our students will remember forever
Daily access to the specialized tools and environments they need to thrive
Together, we can show our children and families that their community believes in them. Thank you for helping us create both joyful celebrations and lasting learning opportunities.
With heartfelt gratitude,
