Callier Center for Communication Disorders

The Callier Center for Communication Disorders cares for patients with hearing loss and communication disorders. In 1950, Lena Callier, who suffered from profound hearing loss, made a commitment to help others like her. She established a trust with the purpose of alleviating the effects of hearing loss, as well as speech and language disorders. After her death in 1957, the trust from Lena Callier’s estate was used to establish the Callier Hearing and Speech Center, which was incorporated as a non-profit, community-based institution in 1963. Over sixty years later, the Callier Center for Communication Disorders has grown into the foremost speech, language and hearing resource for North Texas, and it is one of the most renowned such centers in the nation.

Needs

 Care is for all! The Callier Center believes in providing essential treatment to patients with communication disorders regardless of their ability to pay. Callier patients face hearing loss, language, speech and feeding disorders. This affects their ability to hear, speak and communicate with their loved ones. Help us provide life-changing care for all. 

Giving where it is needed most allows the Callier Center to respond quickly and thoughtfully to each patient’s unique needs. This flexible support makes it possible to provide services such as:  

 •    Cochlear implant programming sessions for children to ensure optimal hearing 

 •    Hearing testing for children and adult patients 

 •    Group speech-language therapy for children with autism 

 •    Diagnostic tools to identify hearing loss in newborns 

 •    Hearing aid checks and adjustments 

 •    Pediatric therapy materials, including books and puzzles
