Building the Future of Conservation Education

Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is investing in the future of wildlife education by creating a safer, more reliable, and more accessible space for our community to learn, connect, and be inspired.

Each year, thousands of children, families, students, and community groups visit BPRC to meet our ambassador raptors, explore the Blackland Prairie, and learn why protecting wildlife and native habitats matters. These experiences are an important part of our mission, helping people build a deeper connection to the natural world and inspiring the next generation of conservationists.

Unfortunately, Texas weather does not always cooperate. Extreme heat, rain, storms, and other conditions can limit or cancel educational programs, making it difficult to provide consistent experiences throughout the year. Through Building the Future of Conservation Education, we are raising funds to create and equip a reliable, weather-protected education space where programs can continue regardless of the forecast.

This initiative will also support important park enhancements that improve safety and accessibility for our visitors, staff, volunteers, and program participants. Planned improvements include repairing damaged and uneven concrete in heavily used areas and investing in the materials, equipment, and infrastructure needed to create a more functional and welcoming learning environment.

A dedicated education space will allow BPRC to serve more students, families, and community groups while expanding the types of programs we can offer throughout the year. It will provide a place for live raptor presentations, school programs, workshops, community events, and other opportunities that help people understand the important role raptors and native prairie ecosystems play in North Texas.
