When animal control arrived, they thought she was already gone.
Sweet Bria, a little Shih Tzu, lay motionless on the side of the road—so buried in layers of matted fur that she was completely unrecognizable. A kind passerby spotted her and called for help, unknowingly setting in motion a race to save her life.
The shelter reached out to us with an urgent plea, and of course, we said YES. But nothing could’ve prepared us for what we were about to see.
Bria was in horrific shape. We couldn’t tell where her head was. Her eyes were hidden. Her nails had curled around like claws, making every step agonizing. And that was just the beginning...
Veterinary exams revealed Bria is suffering from:
A stage 3 heart murmur
A tumor
Severe matting
Dry eye
An ear infection
An upper respiratory infection
Dermatitis
This didn’t happen overnight—Bria has been neglected and suffering for months, maybe even years.
Because of her heart murmur, she’s not strong enough for surgery yet. But she’s receiving round-the-clock care: antibiotics, fluids, pain relief, and more.
We are drowning in the cost of Bria’s care, and we can’t do it alone. If you can, please consider donating—every dollar makes a difference in helping Bria fight for the second chance she so deserves.
