Duck Team 6 NTGD Fundraiser

I started volunteering with Duck Team 6 back in 2019 and to be honest, I had no idea how much it would change my life. 

Duck Team 6 quickly became more than a volunteer gig. I started with outreach, attended one capture class and I was hooked. My first capture was a dog Lana named Jake from State Farm. He was completely feral. I watched from outside the corral as Yvonne, a founding member, was rolling around in the mud trying to get him into a crate. It was absolutely thrilling, but also rewarding. Knowing that this dog that has never known what it was like to live in a home, in comfort and loved was heartbreaking. His foster to adopt family loved him regardless of his feralness and he has since passed. 

Since then, I have helped rescue so many street dogs, I can't even keep count. I don't like to boast or even really highlight how much I do, but this rescue has become who I am as a person. Countless hours waiting for a dog to walk into a trap, exhausting weekends trapping multiple dogs across the metroplex, weeknight captures pulling small dogs out from under semi-trailers and even leaving work for an emergency recapture of a lost foster dog. I couldn't do it without the amazing volunteers on our capture team or without the support of my husband, who I have bailed on countless date nights due to a capture. It has become so much more than a passion and frankly, I don't have a word for how much I love this organization. 

To be frank, we need the funds. We are a completely donation-based rescue and a Registered 501(c)(3). We are volunteer-ran and do not have paid positions. We are just a team of people that desperately want better for the street dogs of Dallas and are determined to change the lives of the ones we can. 

I'm not going to ask you to skip your morning coffee, I know I can't, but even $1 goes a long way. We not only donate to partner rescues that can take in one of our cases, but we help low-income families with spay/neutering and even life saving surgeries for their dogs. If you cannot donate, please consider volunteering or fostering for us. You can change a dog's life, and it is one of the most rewarding experiences.
