At Hope Cottage, we believe you don’t need a cape to save a life. Our vision is a safe and loving family for everyone, and we offer wraparound services — from prenatal care to foster care — to ensure North Texas families have the lifeline they need to survive and thrive.
Keisha’s Story
While leading a class at a Dallas Housing Authority site, one of our facilitators noticed that Keisha’s infant was breathing rapidly, too rapidly. When asked, Keisha said it was just a cold, and she had been giving over-the-counter medicine.
We praised her attentiveness but gently encouraged her to have the baby seen by a doctor. Days later, Keisha returned with tears in her eyes. It was pneumonia. Her baby received treatment just in time.
Keisha, a single mom of three, has now attended classes for five months. She brings her older children, connects with other moms, and has become a leader in the group, asking questions, sharing advice, and helping other parents advocate for their families.
“They told me it was pneumonia. I don’t even want to think about what could’ve happened if I hadn’t gone.”
