Heartworms were going to end Percy's life! FORTUNATELY a great foster home stepped up for him and we were able to give him life saving heart worm treatment. Percy suffered lifelong consequences of not receiving a monthly prevention that will most likely significantly shorten his life. Due to having heartworms, he now battles heart disease. Daily medication makes his life easier, but eventually things will change and these medications will no longer help him. His current monthly medication cost is over $300 a month.
Our supporters have been able to help Percy not only go through heart worm treatment, but allowed us to give him a comfortable life month after month with his three required medications.
Heartworm Disease is highly preventable but deadly when left untreated. Our rescue seeks out these animals in an effort to treat this disease before it becomes fatal. Once treated these dogs can go on to lead normal, happy lives.
No dog (or loving owner) should suffer the horrors of end stage heartworm disease.
Since our beloved friend Arnie left us we have tried to focus more on helping others be treated before their life is beyond recovery. A canine companion can be treated and still not able to have a normal life. Seeing Arnie suffer the consequences of having heart worms for a long period of his life helped us understand why we must help others in a similar situation.
NO DOG should die from a preventable disease!!!
