The Oak Lawn Band is more than just a musical ensemble—it is a vital source of belonging, affirmation, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. For our members, the band provides a safe space to create, perform, and connect with others who understand their experiences. Supporting the Oak Lawn Band extends beyond covering rehearsal space, performance venues, instrument repair, and sheet music—it directly sustains the community our members depend on for friendship, identity, and acceptance.

Within this larger family, the Low Brass section is a particularly close-knit group that embodies the spirit of camaraderie and resilience. We are working together to raise funds that will help keep the band strong, vibrant, and welcoming for all who seek a place to belong. By supporting us, you are not only investing in music—you are investing in people, in community, and in the ongoing visibility and celebration of LGBTQIA+ voices.

Since 1980, the Oak Lawn Band has provided a space for Dallas-area LGBTQIA+ musicians and allies to meet and enjoy their art together safely and comfortably. The Low Brass section is proud to be raising money for the Oak Lawn Band during North Texas Giving Day this year. Your generous contributions go toward instrument rentals and scholarships for band members who need them, concert venues and materials, and other supplies essential to the continued existence of this historic institution.
