Spread the Vote Inc

A nonprofit organization

Since its inception, our Voter Ed program has partnered with 77 community organizations in 20 states. Through a partnership with CommonLit, our curriculum will now be available in over 70,000 schools.

Spread the Vote has 50 employees. Ninety percent of our employees are female, 60% are people of color.

Our average cost per ID is $40.

Our Needs

Our organization needs additional resources to acquire IDs. So why are IDs so difficult to get? For one, they are costly. Even in states with relatively low new and replacement ID fees, individuals are often faced with a challenging question. Is the cost of an ID greater than my pressing need? When getting an ID becomes an absolute necessity, those without often face unexpected costs for necessary documents such as out-of-state birth certificates and transportation to and from government offices.

Mission

Spread The Vote aims to close the gap between registered voters and voter turnout by educating and empowering voters. One of the most common barriers for disenfranchised voters is living in a state with restrictive voter ID laws. Over 21 million Americans lack the ID they need to live full lives. At Project ID, we help members of our communities obtain the IDs they need for jobs, housing, health care, and, most importantly, identity. We help voters get the IDs that they need to get to the polls and provide practical, non-partisan voter education.
