Our Needs

In North Texas, Special Olympics Texas serves the needs of over 15,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities with more than 1,400 Certified Coaches and over 9,000 volunteers. Our year-round, world class programming costs the organization $150 per athlete. To meet the social development, self-concept, health and employment training needs of our athletes, SOTX needs to raise $1.9 million in North Texas. 91 cents out of every dollar raised goes directly to programs for our athletes. 100% of funds raised will be used to support the athletes in the North Texas Region including Dallas, Ft Worth, Waco, and Tyler/Longview.

Mission

The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. All funds raised will support programs in the Greater DFW area.
