The Richardson Community Chorale is a non-auditioned choral ensemble.  Everyone who loves to sing is welcome.  From its inception, the focus of the Richardson Community Chorale (RCC) has been to make Richardson a singing city where everyone can come together to join their voices in song. We seek to provide a fun, musically enriching environment by presenting repertoire that will both entertain and inspire audiences of all ages and interests. The RCC strives to have a positive impact on the community through performances of choral music that range from well-known masterworks to musical theater and popular classics, as well as presenting premiers of new compositions.

Our motto is Sing for Joy!  Adhering to this motto has enabled the RCC to grow in both membership and audience size since our first concert in December of 2016.  We are entirely supported by donations, grants, and membership dues, as RCC concerts are open to the public free of charge.

The Richardson Community Chorale’s 2023-2024 Season will be an exciting one!  We have amazing performances planned as well as fun and engaging run outs all over the community (a run out is a shorter performance by a smaller ensemble of RCC singers).  The RCC will start with two run out performances, first on September 16th for the Light Up Lockwood event at 6pm and then on September 21st at First United Methodist Church Plano.  On October 7th we’ll be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Richardson with a performance at Huffhines Park at 3pm.  Then, our Home for the Holidays concert (a celebration of the holiday spirit, traditions and being together with the ones you love) will take place on December 15th at 7pm at First United Methodist Church in Richardson.  In the spring we’ll be performing a run out at the Richardson Senior Center on February 8th at 1pm as well as a run out the next day at Friend’s Place Adult Day Services at 2pm for their residents. Our final performance of the season will be our spring concert titled The Elements.  This concert will feature songs about earth, fire, air and water and will feature a new commissioned work by composer Debra Scroggins.

Our singers pay a fee to participate, and we receive a grant from the City of Richardson's Cultural Arts Commission. Because our concerts and smaller performances are presented free of charge, we depend on donations to help us defray the cost of rehearsal space, performance venues, professional services, sheet music, and business expenses.

COMMUNITY IMPACT: Our concerts are open to everyone without charge. In addition, RCC reaches out to those who are unable to attend our concerts by performing in various underserved communities such as nursing homes, senior centers, hospitals, libraries, and at civic events.

We encourage people from all walks of life to enjoy the beauty of choral music. Our singers come from a diverse variety of backgrounds, and our scholarship program allows us to include singers who could not otherwise participate. In recent years, over 60 singers have been a part of the RCC. We have collaborated with other musical groups in the area to present excellent music each year to hundreds of residents of Richardson and surrounding communities.

Our Needs

The RCC performs in various underserved communities such as nursing facilities, senior centers, hospitals, libraries, day cares, community civic events, etc. for those who are unable to attend our concerts.

Donations support two major concerts each season and performances for various community and civic events, all at no charge to attendees. In addition to paying rental fees for rehearsal and performance facilities, the Richardson Community Chorale provides a paid professional director and accompanist, as well as sheet music and musical training to those members lacking in skills and financial resources. RCC's goal is to continue to expand our outreach to the community, especially to the underserved in our community. To meet this goal we need community support.

Please support our goal by making a donation to the RICHARDSON COMMUNITY CHORALE.

Goal: $8,000.00.

Mission

The Richardson Community Chorale seeks to engage people of all ages within our local and surrounding communities in the enjoyment of a wide variety of choral music by performing in or listening to free, creative, and artistic concerts.

Equity Statement

The Richardson Community Chorale believes that diversity has many aspects: race, sex, gender identity, age, culture, disability, socioeconomic status, and belief system, among others. We welcome all singers, without regard to these differences and without requiring an audition, to come together and sing as one.

The RCC is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in the makeup of the Chorale and in the provision of free performances to the entire community. We believe that music should be inclusive and available to all.
