REACT is a state-of-the-art community fitness & paralysis recovery center offering programs specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of people living with
neurologically-based diagnosis. REACT exists to maximize your recovery potential. We don't see limitations, we see possibilities.

To measure our effectiveness, we routinely assess (using our own surveys & nationally recognized outcome measures) clients & their families around the following objectives:
• Quality of Life - 99% of REACT clients report an improvement in their quality of life.

We use several outcome measures such as the SCIM (Spinal Cord Independence Measure), the Ferrans & Powers QOL Index, the RNL (Return to Normal Life) Index and satisfaction surveys to arrive at this percentage. Categories evaluated are Health & Function, Social & Economic, Physiological & Spiritual, and Family. The most commonly reported improvements are in the areas Health & Function, followed by Social & Economic.

Individuals who work, attend school and/or exercise regularly are reported as having a higher quality of life - and all our clients exercise regularly, with a majority returning to work and/or school after a year in our program.

According to the National SCI Database, 30% of people with neurological diagnoses are re-hospitalized at least once annually following injury. The average length of stay is 22 days and the leading causes are UTI/bladder issues, followed by diseases of the skin (wounds) and respiratory infections. The rehospitalization rate for REACT clients is 13%, a 17% decrease from the national average. This translates to fewer interruptions to life and recovery -leading to improved quality of life.

• Functional Capacity - 72% of REACT clients experience a 10% or greater increase in functional capacity.

To measure improvements in functional capacity we perform muscle testing on the basis of position (with gravity, no gravity, against gravity), strength (no contraction, trace activity felt, movement, movement with resistance) and range of motion (partial to full range). We also assess ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) to measure improvements in transfers, use of assistive devices, capacity to bathe and dress independently, etc.

The percentage improvement reflects historical outcomes for REACT clients, as a measure of each client's baseline (when they first started) to their most recent re-evaluation (performed upon request, as required by a 3rd party, or annually).

Mission

REACT aims to empower the millions battling neurological injury and disease through exercise and community.
