Parks for Downtown Dallas is now Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy!

Our vision is to nurture and protect Downtown Dallas neighborhood parks, creating an urban environment that spurs moments of inspiration and restoration. As park stewards, builders and advocates, we strive to engage and serve the community by maintaining high-quality public amenities and horticulture. Everyone deserves access to the benefits of nature and play in Downtown.

Four Priority Parks in Downtown Dallas

When Parks for Downtown Dallas was formed in 2015, we had one mandate: implement the City’s 2013 Downtown Parks Master Plan Update by converting surface parking and vacant lots into city parks that serve current and future generations of Dallasites.

The four Priority Parks are spaces that bring people together, combat urban heat island effects, anchor communities, welcome visitors to Downtown, and serve as backyards to residents. These neighborhood parks vary in size, park features and character. The end result is a network of Downtown parks that makes the city center a more walkable, healthy, green, and dynamic experience.

When Harwood Park opens to the public on September 23, this public-private partnership will have opened 4 new parks in 4 years.

  1. Pacific Plaza opened in October 2019
  2. West End Square opened in March 2021
  3. Carpenter Park opened in May 2022
  4. Harwood Park, the final park in this program, will open on September 23, 2023.

Mission

Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy (DDPC) is a nonprofit organization advancing the long-term development and support of public parks within the urban core. We promote a livable, environmentally resilient city center through advocacy for parks and green space.

Needs

As the opening of Harwood Park approaches on September 23, the nonprofit's focus is shifting from park design and construction to championing and nurturing this new urban park network in partnership with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department and neighborhood residents, workers, and visitors.

Your support enables us to support critical park needs and repairs so that everyone has access to the benefits of nature and play in Downtown.

Equity Statement

At Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy, we are committed to meeting and exceeding the City of Dallas Business Inclusion & Diversity (BID) Plan goals in every one of our park projects.

As a long-term champion and advocate of Downtown Dallas parks, we will continue to listen to our community and cultivate an urban park system where all people - no matter the color of their skin, ethnicity, age, income level, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or ability - feel welcome and can access the benefits of nature and play in Downtown.
