Does Communities Foundation of Texas endorse each participating organization?
North Texas Giving Day is proud to support tens of thousands of donors as they come together to give to North Texas nonprofits. We encourage donors to find organizations that align with their passions and values.
While Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) does verify the charitable status of every nonprofit that participates in Giving Day, CFT does not screen or select organizations based on their charitable purpose or their mission.
Giving Day eligibility is based solely on providing services in North Texas and an organization's status as a recognized Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. Therefore, approval of an organization's participation in Giving Day does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or its mission by Communities Foundation of Texas or any Giving Day partners.
Each Giving Day organization page provides the organization's mission and some detailed information on its programs. For additional research, each page also includes a link to its GuideStar profile and its website to provide more detailed information on the organization.
The Communities Foundation of Texas team connects with nonprofits through a variety of channels to keep you informed and empowered! Stay in the loop by:

Follow these steps to add an offline donation:
Communities Foundation of Texas, as well as The Dallas Foundation, Texas Women's Foundation, and Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, administer a charitable giving tool known as a donor-advised fund (DAF). DAFs allow individuals, families, and businesses to organize their charitable giving and make grants to nonprofits.
Donors enjoy administrative convenience, cost savings, and tax advantages by establishing and giving through DAFs. Donors recommend the nonprofit organizations in which they want to invest, and Foundation staff do all the work in administering the grants. DAFs allow donors to add to their fund(s) at any time, receive immediate tax deductions, and distribute funds over longer periods. These funds offer the opportunity to give anonymously, cut down on keeping track of charitable giving receipts, and provide access to the expertise of Foundation staff. DAFs also offer opportunities for the next generation(s) of family members to participate in the fund’s giving.
Is there an option for recurring gifts?
Yes! During the checkout process, donors will automatically see the option to set up a recurring gift. It is up to you and your organization to promote this feature as you see fit. Recurring donations are distributed monthly.
When are funds disbursed?
We provide monthly disbursements through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Donations are distributed the month after they are received, except for North Texas Giving Day contributions, which are disbursed on November 1.
Your organization receives a Disbursement Report which includes a detailed breakdown of the funds deposited. Click here to learn more.
I received a donor-advised fund from a foundation, when will those funds come to our organization?
Communities Foundation of Texas and 4 local foundations partner together on North Texas Giving Day to allow fundholder participation from the following groups: The Dallas Foundation, Texas Women's Foundation, Southwest Community Foundation, and Dallas Jewish Community Foundation.
Gifts from CFT and our partner foundations are processed outside of the platform. If you have an outstanding donation, please contact the processing institution.
