What is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?

Communities Foundation of Texas administers a charitable giving tool known as a donor-advised fund (DAF). DAFs allow individuals, families, and businesses to organize their charitable giving and make grants to nonprofits.

How do DAFs work?

DAFs make giving easy and flexible. Donors can contribute to their fund at any time, receive immediate tax benefits, and choose which nonprofits to support, while the Foundation handles all grant administration.

Using DAFs for North Texas Giving Day

Participating in North Texas Giving Day as a fundholder is simple and impactful! There is no fee to make a grant from a donor-advised fund (DAF) housed at Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) or one of our partner foundations.

CFT Fundholders

Recommend grants through the Fundholder Portal or by contacting your portfolio manager directly.

Other Fundholders

Fundholders with donor-advised funds held with other institutions should initiate their gift directly to the nonprofit(s) they wish to support. The receiving organizations can record these contributions as offline donations to be included in their overall fundraising totals on NorthTexasGivingDay.org.
