How do people become homeless?
There is no single road to homelessness. Every day more than 300 neighbors come through the doors of our zero-barrier Navigation Center. Each one has a unique story. Some are fleeing abuse, while others face debilitating physical or mental health challenges that they have to battle alone. Many of our neighbors are elderly with no safety net or family to lean on. The common thread is a lack of community.
Why does this matter?
Many shelters and placement locations have specific guidelines about who can enter their program. Some shelters are only for men, while others are only for women and children. Some are unable to accommodate individuals with complex medical needs. Some are designed to help with job training and others help end cycles of addiction. Because each of our neighbors face unique challenges, sustainable recovery requires personalized pathways off the streets.
How do we get them off the street?
Our dedicated Care Ministers meet guests right where they are, offering prayer, unconditional love, and help them walk with Jesus and getting off the streets. Through one-on-one engagement, they take time to understand each person's story, trauma, and hurdles. By building deep relational trust and utilizing innovative technology, our team helps each person find a long-term placement solution that is the right fit for them. Our Care Ministers patiently walk alongside our neighbors toward God's path for their life because transformation starts with trust, and trust takes time.
What is a placement?
A placement is the next right step for someone to exit homelessness. We have a network of over 800 vetted partner agencies across the United States. Placement options could include substance use recovery, mental health care, detox services, domestic violence support, veterans' services, family reunification, discipleship, or senior living. Our commitment is not simply to relocation but to true restoration, ensuring that each person is connected to care, community, and long-term hope.
