Osteosarcoma Institute

A nonprofit organization

Globally estimated, there are over 900 new cases of osteosarcoma diagnosed each day, but treatment options haven't advanced in over 35 years. To find a cure for osteosarcoma, we have to collaborate, innovate, and translate around the most promising science. The Osteosarcoma Institute takes a differentiated approach to this. World renowned osteosarcoma experts came together in 2015 to establish OSI as a virtual institute to review the most breakthrough and promising ideas in osteosarcoma in a way that has never been done before. As a virtual institute, the Osteosarcoma Institute and our strategic board are not limited by geography, primary institutions, or traditional review methods. The Osteosarcoma Institute is free to set the agenda in osteosarcoma research and is limited only by the imaginations of the brightest minds in the field.

Mission

The Osteosarcoma Institute's mission is to dramatically increase treatment options and survival rates in osteosarcoma, the most common form of childhood bone cancer, through identifying and funding the most promising and breakthrough osteosarcoma clinical trials and science.

Equity Statement

The Osteosarcoma Institute is committed to eliminating barriers of access to expert care, diagnosis and treatment for all cancer patients. In doing so, with mounting evidence for the need to develop precision medical treatment and intervention solutions to serve diverse patient populations, we are actively engaged in changing the health equities landscape by supporting expanding diversity with the inclusion of historically underrepresented racial and ethnic minority populations into clinical trials that we fund. We are especially interested in supporting clinical trials and research studies that have developed successful strategies, measurable outcomes, and robust outreach plans to feasibly and

effectively include these populations into these studies. As one of the leading funders of osteosarcoma research, we believe it is our duty to ensure that minority representation in cancer clinical trials is addressed. Now, more than ever, better understanding of the role of biology in cancer treatment, advances in precision treatment, and development of new technologies demands that we also make significant improvements in diverse clinical trial participation to ensure that all communities have equal access to potentially life-saving treatments.
