About UNT Dallas

With an expanding campus overlooking the downtown Dallas skyline, The University of North Texas at Dallas is preparing today’s students tomorrow's competitive job market. UNT Dallas is one of the most affordable four-year universities in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and the only four-year university in the City of Dallas. We offer our Trailblazing students rigorous academic programs, hands-on experiential learning opportunities, a career-ready education, technology assistance, a food pantry, wellness options, a mentoring program and affordable tuition plans that help minimize student debt. With the opening of the new STEM building scheduled for Fall 2025 and the first classes planned for the start of Spring 2026, UNT Dallas continues to demonstrate its commitment to empower, transform and strengthen the lives of our students and the communities we serve.

About the UNT Dallas Foundation

The UNT Dallas Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation (Tax ID #45-3072303) that mobilizes philanthropic investment to measurably affect positive change in UNT Dallas' ability to provide an educational experience that transforms lives

Our History

Our Impact

We offer our students the most affordable tuition plans in the Dallas region, helping them blaze their trail toward a bachelor’s, master’s, or juris doctoral degree while minimizing student debt. Our value-based education is accompanied by innovative, high-quality academic programs that include opportunities for rich experiential learning. Our students also benefit from our many partnerships with non-profit organizations, school districts, community colleges, and local business partners. These partners allow us to expand educational access and provide unique learning opportunities for our students.

Affordability

In 2023, UNT Dallas received the highest rating of all North Texas colleges and universities included in Money Magazine's annual “Best Colleges in America” report. UNT Dallas is the only college or university in the DFW region to achieve a 4.5 (out of 5) score and one of just six statewide. Only one of the 28 Texas colleges and universities in the report scored higher. Money called UNT Dallas a standout in social mobility and noted the university’s affordability, with average annual costs below $10,000 for in-state students. It also noted the option of a fixed tuition plan that allows incoming students to lock in their expenses for five years.

Academics

In a 2023 Alumni Attitude Survey, our graduates answered a detailed list of questions and shared opinions about an important range of topics.

The skills alumni feel UNT Dallas best prepared them for include:

  • Effective writing
  • Critical thinking
  • Ethical reasoning and action
  • Problem-solving
  • Effective oral communication
  • Quantitative reasoning
  • Collaborating with others
  • Decision-making

The survey results indicate a promising trajectory for the future of UNT Dallas: our image and reputation, a firm commitment to supporting and strengthening the community, and, most importantly, the success and socioeconomic mobility of our students.

Community

In a recent landmark partnership with the Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD), UNT Dallas is launching its first-ever Teacher Residency Program. Five university seniors, all education majors, will be paid to teach for the entire Dallas ISD 2024-25 school year, a testament to the strength and significance of this collaboration. The novel arrangement between the School of Education and Dallas ISD builds on an existing relationship to prepare university students for real-world situations so they are career-ready upon graduation.

The Community Lawyering Centers provide free legal services to eligible residents. Students from UNT Dallas College of Law handle cases, supervised by faculty from UNT Dallas College of Law and experienced attorneys from Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, the Dallas Public Defender’s Office, and other qualified attorneys.

UNT Dallas and the North Texas Food Bank have partnered to bring a drive-thru mobile food pantry to campus on the third Friday of each month. The free, drive-thru service is available to all community members who need food support.

Needs

At the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas), we champion the aspirations of our students, particularly those who are first-generation and pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Our mission is to transform lives and strengthen communities, and your support on North Texas Giving Day plays a pivotal role in achieving this vision.

As part of the UNT System, we embarked on a journey to establish a values-based culture earlier in 2023. Collectively, as a values-driven system, we identified the core values and behaviors that we all agree to live by: Courageous Integrity, Be Curious, We Care, Better Together, and Show Your Fire.

For North Texas Giving Day, we want to show that we care for our students by amplifying the academic and campus resources that are so critically needed. We ask you to learn more about the services of our featured fundraising campaigns, their impact, and how you can help the university continue to provide these resources to students. Please select a link and make a commitment to support a UNT Dallas student.

Thank you for demonstrating how you share our values by helping us provide the resources and services that our students need to be successful.
