Equity Statement
The Women’s Chorus of Dallas is dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
We believe music is strongest when every singer feels seen, respected and valued.
We welcome individuals of diverse backgrounds, identities and lived experiences who support our mission.
We affirm women, nonbinary and gender-expansive individuals who sing with a treble voice, and we are committed to fostering an environment where every member is treated with dignity, respect and belonging.
How we put these principles into action:
Listening to the voices of those who have been marginalized—people of color, indigenous people, non-binary, queer, trans people—and embracing their ideas and concerns in decision-making;
Building a Chorus membership and audience that reflects the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of Dallas;
Increasing performances and exposure of women and LGBTQ+ composers, in particular women of color;
Creating a safe and welcoming place for all women who love to sing.
Meanwhile, we stand and sing, a unified voice! We reaffirm our founding within and commitment to allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. We offer our voices and support to the disenfranchised, marginalized, oppressed, and underrepresented across Dallas and North Texas.
We will relentlessly promote strength, diversity, and power for all women by performing the highest quality music to entertain, inspire, and serve the community.
