The WARM Place provides peer support groups for children and their families after the death of a loved one. For 34 years, The WARM Place has companioned over 45,000 children and family members along their grief journeys. Currently, 494 children and 338 families participate in the in-person and virtual peer support groups, with an additional 200+ children on the waitlist ready to receive services. There is never a fee for services, no geographical limitations on service area, and no time limits--families are welcome to participate as long as they feel they are benefiting from the program.

We also provide supplemental opportunities to support children and families with their grief, including Family Nights and Camp Remember Me. Family Nights are hosted six times a year and focus on making new memories as a family after a death. Camp Remember Me is a weekend-long camp that provides an opportunity for families to spend time together in the outdoors, participate in traditional camp activities, and discuss their grief journeys. Additionally, we provide support to Spanish-speaking families, including offering an adult support group for caregivers who speak Spanish, and providing our paperwork, resources, and website all in Spanish. Like our peer support groups, all of these additional program offerings are provided at no cost to the families enrolled.

Did you know that in Texas, 1 in 16 children will become bereaved due to the death of a parent or sibling by age 18? That means at least one child in every classroom in Texas is grieving the death of a parent or sibling (Children's Bereavement Estimation Model). Experiencing a significant death during childhood often results in profound stress and adversity that can derail a child's development without appropriate support. This is the impact of grief in a child's life, and this is why The WARM Place exists - to help children navigate the difficult emotions that accompany grief and give them the tools they need.

Since 1989, we have served over 45,000 children and their family members and have never once asked any clients to pay a fee while in the program. The WARM Place is supported solely through private donations and grants, and the Board of Directors and staff are dedicated to pursuing the necessary funds to sustain our unique program as it fills a critical need in the community.

DONATE - Will you help us reach our goal of raising $30,000 so that we can continue providing these critical services to families in our community? We rely on supporters like YOU to make our mission possible! We're also growing! The WARM Place continues to expand our reach and services to best serve our growing community, and right now, we are finishing an expansion that will grow our facility by over 50%!

VOLUNTEER - Volunteers at The WARM Place serve as companions for children and families along their grief journeys, and we couldn’t do it without them! Help children find hope and healing through our rewarding volunteer opportunities. Indicate on your North Texas Giving Day donation that you are interested in volunteering, and we will reach out to you!

In June 2022 we began construction to add 3,329 square feet to the current WARM Place facility! After about a year and a half of construction, we are thrilled to announce that we are finishing this project!

In this new space, more children will be served and more parents will be equipped to support them. Not only will this expansion allow us to eliminate the waitlist to give children the support they need, but in addition, this project will increase total group room capacity by 75%! With our program growing to serve more families we need to grow our support!  With your help we can meet our goal of raising $30,000 on North Texas Giving Day!

Thank you for investing in the mission of The WARM Place! We remain the only agency in Tarrant County dedicated to children's bereavement, and we appreciate your support in making our critical services available to all North Texas families!

Mission

The mission of The WARM Place is to provide year-round grief support services to children ages 3-and-a-half to 18 and their families, as well as young adults ages 19 to 25 who have experienced the death of a loved one. We believe that no child should ever have to grieve alone.

Equity Statement

The WARM Place affirms the worth of every individual. Grief is a universal experience and does not discriminate. As we have since 1989, we stand by our mission of providing grief support to children and their families at no cost to them. We welcome and support all individuals and are committed to providing a warm, equitable, and inclusive environment.
