We believe every child has the right to a safe, nurturing childhood. That’s why TexProtects advocates for policies that protect children from abuse and empowers families to thrive. Established in 2004, TexProtects has successfully steered 55+ pieces of legislation to passage and secured over $267 million in state funding for community programs that reach over 67,000 families annually through home visiting and parenting programs that strengthen family functioning and ensure successful child development.
We also know that passing legislation is only one part of the work. it is equally important to stay closely connected to communities to understand how policies are carried out, supporting providers where possible, identifying gaps in resources for families, and ensuring that policy efforts genuinely strengthen and sustain local solutions. TexProtects serves as a vital link between state mandates and local reality, fostering a prevention ecosystem that is robust, connected, and effective.
Last year, 51,985 Texas children were confirmed victims of abuse or neglect. Over 10,000 children were removed from their homes and placed in custody of the state.

$1,000 - The Child Protection Roundtable: The Roundtable is the leading voice in child protection public policy and governmental action, convening leaders to build an equitable future for Texas children by leveraging child welfare data, community resources and strategic policy.
