In 1985 Catherine Barr and members of her woodwind quintet discovered a new audience in a Dallas nursing home. The musicians’ desire to perform matched the residents’ need for human interaction. Music made a difference in the lives of players and listeners alike, nurturing their spirits and awakening the potential for sharing love and compassion in a unique setting.

Since that time, Texas Winds has expanded its outreach to all Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton County nursing homes, as well as hospitals and Head Start Centers. Texas Winds gave 11 concerts in its first year. In the 22-23 season, we gave 1,953 concerts to 68,613 North Texans.
