Who We Are
The North Texas Chapter (NTMN) of the Texas Master Naturalist (TMN) organization is comprised of over 400 member volunteers from Dallas, Kaufman and Rockwall counties. The dedicated volunteers of NTMN work to improve the quality of life for current and future generations of North Texans by providing education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within communities across North Texas.
In 2025, NTMN volunteers logged over 28,000 hours of volunteer service and currently coordinate 77 different projects across its three county service area. Here are just a few of our projects:
• Conducting numerous conservation education programs for kids and underserved communities
• Providing volunteer staffing at the Natural History Museum at Fair Park
• Conducting the annual Lights Out bird survey in downtown Dallas
• Supporting wildlife rehabilitation by providing volunteers for the DFW Wildlife Hotline and Rogers Wildlife Center
• Removing invasive plants and planting native species at White Rock Lake, Spring Creek Forest Preserve, the Great Trinity Forest, Dallas College campuses, Oakland Cemetery, Bachman Lake Park and many other North Texas open spaces.
• Providing Wellness in Nature programs for people with disabilities
• Building community and facilitating environmental awareness through public events such as Native Plants and Prairies Day.
We are a dedicated group doing what we can to protect, enhance and preserve the natural beauty of North Texas.
Our 501 (c) 3 organization provides funding for several of our projects, community outreach and education as well as chapter operations. We invite you to support our efforts by donating to North Texas Master Naturalist on North Texas Giving Day.

Our Needs
1. Maintain a scholarship fund for new class members so cost is never a barrier to joining.
2. Provide financial support across our projects. Our work runs on the hard work and commitment of our volunteers, however, there are often costs associated with these projects.
Our mission is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities in the state of Texas.
Nature teaches us that biodiversity ensures the stability, productivity, and progression of an ecosystem, and what affects one element in nature will, in turn, affect the entire ecosystem. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive volunteer base that reflects the communities in which we serve. We are committed to a culture that values differences and welcomes unique perspectives and experiences. We are committed to serving and engaging all audiences in conservation, education, and stewardship.
