SMID offers students of all ages a comprehensive program including private lessons with highly skilled teachers, group classes and a comprehensive musicianship and theory program. The youngest students can begin their musical journey in the Kodomo program before beginning instrument specific lessons. We offer scholarships to families who may not otherwise be able to offer a musical education to their children. NTGD is the largest source of these much needed scholarships funds, as well as important source of funds for program support and faculty development.
North Texas Giving Day is our largest fundraiser of the year. Through these donations, we are able to offer scholarships to support talented students who otherwise might not be able to afford a Suzuki education. Additional funds are used for necessary facility and instrument maintenance, along with program support. Your donation allows our faculty to provide the highest level of care and instruction for our students.
Suzuki Music Institute of Dallas (SMID) is dedicated to helping all children develop their musical ability. SMID teaches according to the philosophy of Shinichi Suzuki, who promoted the theory that musical talent is not innate and can be developed to an extremely high level using the "mother tongue" method. SMID believes in fostering the musical growth and character development of all students, helping each child achieve a high standard of musical excellence.
The Suzuki Music Institute does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual preference or identity, or for any other reason. Rather, we seek to create a safe and inclusive environment where all children can receive the highest level of musical education and collaboration possible. We believe music has the power to bring people together, to bridge differences and to unite both musicians and listeners. We strive to share this belief with our students and to give them the power to share their music with others.
