The Wright Family established the S.M. Wright Foundation in 1998. Its mission is to provide support and stability to underprivileged children and less fortunate families through hunger relief, economic empowerment, and assistance in the areas of education, health, and social services. It is unique among social services because it carries out its mission on a daily basis in our community providing hope, encouragement, and assistance to families in need. With the inflation increasing at a fast rate and the income inequality gap is getting much wider many less fortunate families continues to need assistance to make ends meet.
The foundation offers two types of services. Community events include the Annual Back-to-School Event (2,500+ annually), the Thanksgiving Day Feast (3,000+ attendees annually), and the Christmas in the Park program (40,000+ attendees annually). Our community agencies include the South Dallas Community Food Center, the South Dallas Education Center, South Dallas Clothing Center, Beds for Kids Center of North Texas, the North Texas Furniture Bank and the Business and Investment Club. The S.M. Wright Foundation has been delivering social services to those in need for over 25 years. Working together, we can continue to make our communities a better place to live and can continue to develop programs that address the educational and social needs of our community.
The Wright Foundation is currently in need of support of the Foundation's South Dallas Community Food Center in providing food to families currently in this crisis and also support for the Beds for Kids of North Texas Center which provides new beds sets to less fortunate kids in the North Texas community. We are in need of 1,500 new mattress sets. From the beginning, the demand has far exceeded the Foundation's ability to supply beds. Although there is still a long waiting list of 1500+ kids, since its inception this program distributed 20,000 bed sets to the underprivileged kids in our community. $175.00 sponsorship of a new twin bed set including frame, box spring, and mattress for a child in need for teenagers $200 sponsorship of a full set including frame, box spring and mattress.
The S.M. Wright Foundation is a non profit organization that provides support and stability to inner-city, underprivileged children and less fortunate families through hunger relief,educational support,health, social service assistance and economic empowerment. Our goals are to move these families from a position of dependency to self sufficiency and to restore stability to families and the community.
Currently the organization needs help in sponsorships for additional food products for the foundation food center, also need sponsorships for more mattress sets to restock the foundation warehouse. We are in need of operations support for the foundation Clothing & Resource Center and we need assistance for the Foundation Upcoming Dallas Christmas in the Park Holiday program
