We are a church in the city of Terrell, Texas whose laity is primarily those experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, unemployment, under employment, mental illness, and addiction. In services on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, we teach God's grace and love through prayer, bible studies, and testimonials to lift up the fallen, restore the broken and heal the hurting. When you are hungry and thirsty, the needs of the body eclipse those of the heart and soul so Serenity works with Terrell churches, businesses and private donors to provide meals, street friendly foods and shelter during dangerous weather, along with social services, education and administrative needs. Our Board and the friends of Serenity are staffed from our local Churches and their Pastors network with our Pastor to find ways to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of those we serve.
Serenity Church has outgrown its current location and we need to expand our space for worship and teaching. We also need space and resources to provide emergency shelter, showers, laundry services and daily meals, along with counseling, and assistance with documentation such as drivers licenses, Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps and the like.
Our Mission is to share the good news of Christ's love and mercy to those who are wounded by life circumstances while providing basic services for the mind and body.
Serenity's primary needs are financial. For NTXGD 2024 we are seeking donations toward our $90,000 budget for daily operations (overhead), and direct aid (food, clothing, shelter) for those in Terrell TX who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Our ministry is community facing and we frequently help with basic necessities for our neighbors who are living on the margins.
We are a Church in the City of Terrell that serves the underserved. We receive no support from our city, but we are a valued resource in the Kaufman County Homeless Coalition. We serve people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity regardless to race, sex, religion, health or political preferences. We are also creating a resource connection where people who need help can find information about where they can go to get the help they need.
