This year, River Legacy nature Center is celebrating 30 years of DISCOVERY, WONDER and WILDLIFE CARE.

This year, River Legacy Nature Center turns 30 - and two of our most beloved Animal Ambassadors want you to celebrate with them.

Mr. Six, our three-toed box turtle, and Trinity, our Trans-Pecos rat snake, have called the Nature Center home since the very beginning. Thirty years of curious kids. Thirty years of wide eyes and whispered “whoas.” They’ve seen it all.

Today, more than 100 resident Animal Ambassadors inspire children and families to discover, protect, and fall in love with the natural world. That work continues because of donors like you.

During National Pet Month, we’re asking you, one of our most dedicated supporters, to make a special gift of $30, $300, or whatever feels right to honor 30 years of wonder and help fund the next 30.

At River Legacy Nature Center, “DISCOVER” isn’t just a sign—it’s an invitation.

What's behind the DISCOVER sign?

DISCOVER Why YOUR DONATION Matters

When children and adults explore River Legacy Nature Center,

They DISCOVER more than just animals—they uncover connections.

They DISCOVER how wildlife like turtles, snakes, cardinals, tree frogs, and rabbits

These DISCOVERIES spark curiosity, inspire care, and ignite a lifelong love of nature.

YOUR DONATION makes DISCOVERY possible.

Please GIVE during Early Giving and on North Texas Giving Day!
Your gift helps others DISCOVER what’s behind that word—and why it matters.

Please give generously during North Texas Gives to Animals and see the impact behind every DISCOVERY!

Giving Activity

Mission

River Legacy Foundation helps people fall in love with nature! DISCOVER something new each visit. Each year our naturalists and teachers guide 14,000+ school children on Field Trips. For many of these students, it is their first walk in the woods.

Young learners hear the rustling of leaves when they hike in the woods. They meet animal ambassadors (ferrets, snakes, and turtles, oh my!) They DISCOVER decomposers on the forest floor! These experiences are wonder-filled and wonderful! Your donation makes these DISCOVERIES possible. We could not do all this without you!

Needs

We need your help:

Animal Ambassador Care – Hunny Bunny Needs Your Help - $1000+ Hunny Bunny, one of our most beloved rabbits, recently survived a life-threatening emergency with the help of an ER visit and ongoing medical care. Covering these costs is part of what it takes to provide the highest-quality care for the more than 100 animal ambassadors who call the Nature Center home. These animals are important and engaging teachers for thousands of students and visitors each year. Please help Hunny Bunny.

Classroom Furniture – $1,000 As we approach our 30th anniversary, much of our Nature School furniture is also just as old. Please help update classroom furniture to give young learners the best learning environment possible.

Trail Markers – $500 - These small but powerful markers will connect our Discovery Trail to our educational apps. Please help turn every hike into an interactive learning adventure.

Every child who learns, every family who discovers, and every animal who thrives here is thanks to people like you.
