Why Your Support Is Urgently Needed

Speech and swallowing difficulties affect up to 90% of people with Parkinson's. Swallowing problems can lead to aspiration pneumonia, the leading cause of death in Parkinson's. Yet only 3 to 4% receive the vital speech therapy they need. The need to address this gap is urgent.

Parkinson Voice Project is the only nonprofit solely dedicated to treating speech and swallowing in people with Parkinson’s.

Since 2008, our speech and swallowing therapy has been offered in our clinic at no cost. We are helping people with Parkinson's reclaim their confidence and their connections. We are helping them swallow safely without coughing or choking. No patient has ever been denied treatment at our clinic due to insurance or financial restrictions.

The mission of Parkinson Voice Project is to help people diagnosed with Parkinson’s and other disorders regain and retain their speech and swallowing.

Needs

Since 2008, Parkinson Voice Project has not billed insurance or charged for its speech therapy services. Any person with Parkinson's living in Texas can receive all the speech therapy they need. Online therapy makes it possible to treat the homebound, patients who do not drive, and patients living in rural areas. Donations made to Parkinson Voice Project help cover the salaries of our licensed speech-language pathologists, as well as the resources and supplies needed during treatment.

Equity Statement

Every person living with Parkinson's deserves access to quality speech treatment to preserve their speech and swallowing.
