Since December, Our Daily Bread has moved into a new shelter facility, maintained two service locations, and has increased mental and physical health services. ODB is the only low barrier shelter in Denton County that offers wraparound services to those experiencing homelessness in our community. ODB has evolved to respond to community needs around hunger and homelessness as well as enhancing programming by expanding shelter services, housing assistance, transitional shelter, case management, work training, and mental health services.
Since then, we have been working at both of our locations to connect our guests to a community and resources that will move them forward toward meaningful, independent living.
Our main location serves as many as 600+ meals each day and has increased its availability to shelter 145+ guests each night. Our motel location provides transitional housing, which accommodates 81 guests. This year we have housed 35 guests.
Recent growth has only emphasized the need our guests have for wraparound services beyond the meals, clothing, and shelter. Our Daily Bread now has mental health clinicians and case managers who work with guests to help them develop goals, find housing, and heal from past traumas. Our Job Readiness program creates a path to employment and long term stability.
Mission
We feed, shelter, and care for the homeless and at-risk in our community while maintaining the dignity of our guests and offering opportunities for a new start.
Needs
As an organization who serves anyone who walks through our door, free of charge, in need of a meal, bed, and other essential services, we utilize monetary and in-kind donations to sustain our ability to feed and serve those in need. When you donate, you are helping us to make a measurable impact on the lives of the most vulnerable among us by improving their health and well-being.
Year after year, our service numbers increase. We assist more guests, provide more meals, and provide more services. Your funds will support direct service of meals, essential supplies, and case management for those experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty.
