In Dallas, 17.2% of people live below the poverty line. Many are homeless or living in shelters, struggling with health issues and addictions. Others are families and single mothers barely able to make ends meet for their children and at risk of eviction.

Operation Care International (OCI) believes that Jesus gave us the command, power, and means to help those in need. What started as one widow’s ministry to the homeless in downtown Dallas has grown into the nation's largest annual event for the homeless and impoverished, Christmas Gift.

Our outreach has a unique focus: We believe the lost, the least, and the lonely should experience Christ’s servant love through footwashing. In addition to meeting the immediate needs of the poor, we follow our Savior in this act of humility, service, and love to show them how much Jesus loves them.

Every person we serve gets their physical needs met through food, clothing, and shoes–but beyond that, they are heard, understood, and prayed for. They experience Jesus’ love firsthand, often for the first time.

Our calling is to touch hearts and transform lives through the simple acts of meeting needs, washing feet, and sharing Christ. Will you join us?

About Christmas Gift

Each December, Operation Care holds the nation's largest Christmas party for the homeless and impoverished at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center. Thousands of people form lines early on a cold morning for this special event.

Thousands of men, women, and children line up in the cold to receive much-needed food, clothing, shoes, and care (including medical services, haircuts, and more). In addition, everyone who attends Christmas Gift has their feet washed, learns about Jesus, and receives prayer.

Over 3,000 humble and caring volunteers plus partner organizations, church groups, sponsors, and donors make this event possible every year.
