About NICA
Located near Fort Worth’s historic Stockyards, NICA was established in 1969 to help serve our community by providing food, clothing, and education programs to families in the Northside of Fort Worth and surrounding communities.
What We Do
The mission of NICA is to aid and uplift our neighbors, providing food and other resources, as well as fostering opportunities that strengthen families and our community.
This fall, we are launching two new programs: Aventuras Rising and Juntos Leamos/Let's Read Together. On North Texas Giving Day, we are rallying our community with a goal of 200 people donating $25 to support students in their community.
Aventura Rising takes 10th graders on a high school journey to plan and prepare for their future. They participate in "adventures" that help them discover Life Skills, Soft Skills, Career Plans, and Community Engagement. Those who complete their adventures earn scholarship money for their future education.
Juntos Leamos/Let's Read Together is a program that encourages reading among people of all ages. Every month, students are invited in to read quietly and get reading assistance if needed, followed by a time to talk about what they are reading. Quarterly, these events become community dinners where everyone in the community is invited in to read, followed by dinner and book discussion.
Our mission is to aid and uplift our neighbors, providing food and other resources, as well as fostering opportunities that strengthen families and our community.
We are also redesigning our youth empowerment space, to make it more welcoming and warm. You can help by purchasing items from our Amazon Wish list at https://a.co/3oQHY8z.
