Our Needs

2026 was a rough year for Mutts & Mittens. We lost our beloved Megg. 

Megg came to us as one of the rescues I talk about below...broken hearted, broken soul, wounded, and heart- worm positive with mange. There is no telling how long she had been on the streets before a good Samaritan found her, and brought her to the shelter. Megg was still sweet, despite the horrible things that had befallen her. However, her condition was too severe for the shelter to handle, and she was set to be euthanize at the end of the day. I had been out all day and when I checked the list that night (as I always do) and saw her on there it was too late! The higher powers had other plans for our girl and when I sent the email to say we would take her, even knowing it was too late, she was still there!!!! Mutts & Mittens wasted no time rushing to rescue our girl and get her to a vet. Megg is truly a fairy tale story ending. She was adopted by one of our founders and lived a life of royalty for the next ten years. We miss you so much Ms. Megg. 

Mutts & Mittens rescues usually come to us either wounded or ill.   Sometimes, like Megg, they come to us with a broken soul that cannot be treated by a vet, but only by love and time. These animals need bedding, food, and in some cases, training to improve their adoption chances. All of these things take money. And all of our rescues receive their own special toy that goes with them to their forever home.
