About Minuteman Disaster Response
Every year, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and wildfires strike communities across the U.S., leaving families struggling to recover. Local resources are often stretched thin -roughly 70% of fire departments rely on volunteers, and even well-meaning helpers can unintentionally create risks without proper training. Minuteman Disaster Response (MDR) fills that gap.
What began with a small group of volunteers from North Texas stepping into disaster recovery has grown into a nationwide network of trained men and women who are ready at a moment’s notice. Since our founding in 2011, we’ve grown into a nationwide network of vetted volunteers, ready to respond safely and at no cost to the individuals and communities we serve.
Our trained volunteer teams specialize in essential recovery work: clearing trees and debris, mucking and gutting, and restoring homes to safety and accessibility. By arriving fully self-sufficient and equipped, we ensure local jurisdictions aren’t burdened and families receive help they can trust.
With 89% of every donated dollar going directly to relief work, MDR combines speed, skill, and integrity - bringing trained, trustworthy volunteers to communities when they need it most.
