Mata was the first public Montessori program in Dallas that does not require an academic entrance examination, making this world-class education model available, for free, to any child in our community. In the Montessori model, students select work and work at their own pace, empowering and inspiring them to be the drivers of their education. The curriculum structure ensures that students advance on parallel with other students in the district. Mata is now serving students in PK3-8 grade.
We take pride in providing an authentic Montessori education, free of admission barriers, that engages the hearts and minds of students. One measure of Mata's success is that it draws families from every trustee district in the Dallas ISD, therefore increasing socioeconomic diversity. Recently, Mata will grew its educational reach by adding middle school grades, offering the first Montessori middle school in the DISD.
Mata PTA is a nonprofit organization focused on improving the education, opportunities and welfare of Mata Montessori students through facilitating engagement and cooperation among parents, teachers, and the community. We raise funds for curriculum materials and opportunities for students, organize free community-building events, and help promote a healthy community culture.
Our current, and ongoing, needs revolve around providing engaging, authentic, and relevant experiences for our students. We are fortunate to be in such a rich and culturally diverse city, and want our students to have access to all of the amazing opportunities in the DFW metroplex, regardless of financial status. A primary goal for our PTA fundraising is to support the school field trip needs, such as entrance tickets and bus reservations.
We are proud to send our 4th grade class on a capital trip every year. This is something the students look forward to every year. It is something our PTA strongly supports and does everything we can to provide transportation to and from Austin. As you donate to Mata PTA, keep in mind you are providing a DISD student the opportunity to see parts of our city and state they may not otherwise experience.
