$2,500 Goal

Love & Paws Rescue is a small, foster-based dog rescue in Fort Worth, Texas. Our mission is to save the most at-risk dogs in Texas. We focus on the dogs that need it most, prioritizing quality care over quantity. We do this by giving them all the time they need to be rehabilitated, and ensuring they get all of the medical care needed to be healthy. We work tirelessly to not only save lives, but change them for the better.

In January 2024, we closed our intake to focus on the dogs currently in our care. Several had been on our roster for more than a year, and with the continued decline in fosters and volunteers, we felt it would be a significant disservice to them if we continue to take on more. We developed a new approach to adoption screenings, brought in a trainer to support the dogs with specific needs, and finally found our groove again.

Two years later, 4 are still with us today. We remain committed to the dogs currently in our care, but have found ourselves continue to navigate the rescue world with zero fosters or volunteers. It's literally just two of us! Love and Paws Rescue is transitioning to become a resource rescue, a place that can help support keeping animals in their homes when owners/families find themselves facing difficult decisions. By addressing barriers and root causes of why so many dogs find themselves in shelters each and every day, we hope to not only help keep them in their forever homes but to begin chipping away at the animal welfare crisis in our community.

Mission

Love & Paws Rescue is a small foster based dog rescue in Fort Worth, Texas. Our mission is to save the most at-risk dogs in Texas. We take in strays, owner surrenders, and also pull from shelters with high euthanasia rates and low communtiy support. We focus on quality over quantity for the dogs that need it most, taking all the time they need to be rehabilitated and all of the care they require to be healthy and happy in every aspect of life.

Needs

Our North Texas Giving Day goal of $2,500 will support the specific needs of Rosie and Nemo, and general needs of Speckles and Pluto:

Rosie is our senior mama with a gentle soul. Don't let her fool you though, she can be spicy and is young at heart! She was previously with our rescue when giving birth to a litter of puppies at a local shelter during COVID. Rosie returned to us after her owner fell on hard times and faced homelessness. She's waiting on a home with no other pets or kids, where she can Netflix and chill all day. Rosie has two masses that will need to be surgically removed and biopsied. We are setting an initial goal of $1000 to cover this procedure.

Nemo is the sweetest itty-bitty tripod pittie! She currently lives in a home boarding facility with her trainer, and coming up on her two-year anniversary there. We are grateful for the partnership to support Nemo, and she has THRIVED. She is a completely different dog now thanks to time, patience, trust, and YOUR donations. It costs us $10/day to keep Nemo here and there are 105 days left in 2026 ($1050 for the rest of the year). For every $10 donation we get towards Nemo, a generous donor will match (up to $500). Nemo would do best in an adult-only home with a consistent routine. She loves the outdoors, so hiking, biking, walks, etc. are her jam!

Speckles remains in our care, and Bloom (now Osa) will be returning soon. Neither have any significant expenses at this time. We are aiming to raise $250 for each of them, which will cover their annual vaccines, monthly preventatives, and food.

Equity Statement

Love and Paws Rescue believes in diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our work and service. A broad lens of equity and diversity has a positive impact on the animals in our care, and helps us better serve clients, volunteers, and our entire community. We believe that no one should be judged on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability or level of income, just as no dog should be judged based on their breed or background. We believe in collaboration with other organizations and institutions within the community to help achieve the equity to which all humans and animals are entitled. Love and Paws Rescue is not just about compassion for animals- it's about who we are at the core and standing up for what is right for all involved.
