Leadership ISD

A nonprofit organization

Imagine an education ecosystem that lifts every child, regardless of their race or zip code, to reach their boldest and brightest dreams. Our current education system is failing students of color and other marginalized communities. So, we must work together to create lasting conditions for an equitable education system that rises to meet the needs of all students. Our movement is cultivating bold education advocates and school leaders in Dallas and Tarrant Counties who are laser-focused on improving student outcomes for every student in our North Texas public schools through a coordinated approach that includes:

Leadership Training - Equipping community leaders with the skills, mindset, relationships, and experiences needed to become changemakers in their school communities through our Civic Voices Fellowship.

Coalition Building - Engaging stakeholders and partners with effective tools and information to advance equitable education policies and practices that improve student outcomes through community forums, partner collaboratives, and school board meetings.

Trustee Development & Support - Preparing aspiring, newly-elected, and tenured school board trustees to govern effectively and take actions that are racially equitable, student-centered, and outcomes-focused through our Ready to Lead Academy and one-on-one coaching.

Your support on North Texas Giving Day will help ensure success in each of these key impact areas. By targeting key leaders in strategic spaces, we will make a broad and lasting impact.

Mission

Our mission is to equip community leaders to advance academic excellence and racial equity in public education through advocacy, policy, and school board governance.

To achieve these goals, we build and support ecosystems of trust and accountability that lead to improved student outcomes. Together with our network, we are transforming public education to ensure every student is prepared to reach their boldest and brightest dreams.

Equity Statement

To impact student outcomes, we focus primarily on district-level policies, practices, resource allocations, and board leadership. We use these levers to disrupt institutional inequities that exist along the lines of race, language, ability, and income.

At Leadership ISD, we envision a public education system that prepares every student of every race, socioeconomic status, language, and ability to achieve their boldest dreams. We believe that all voices belong at the policy-making table and our work is committed to working alongside those most impacted by educational inequity.

Collectively, we advocate for practices and policies that dismantle historic inequities in education and improve student outcomes. Leadership ISD, together with its network of over 2,600 community stakeholders, takes action to address the growing disparities in education and to promote policies and practices that ensure all Texas students, especially students of color, have access to an excellent and equitable education.
